Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has posted to X regarding the tragic assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. Kirk, who championed free and open debate at university campuses across the U.S, was also a close friend and advisor of U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Yesterday, we lost a true defender of faith and freedom. Our deepest condolences go to the Kirk family and to the American people,” Orbán wrote.

“Charlie Kirk’s death is the result of the international hate campaign waged by the progressive-liberal left. This is what led to the attacks on Robert Fico, on Andrej Babiš, and now on Charlie Kirk,” he continued.

“We must stop the hatred! We must stop the hate-mongering left!” the Hungarian PM concluded his post.

Orbán has made a name for himself as a defender of family values and Christian heritage, two things Kirk was a staunch supporter of as well.

Just a week ago, Remix News reported on the attack on Andřej Babiš, the former prime minister of the Czech Republic, whose right-wing party is leading in the polls ahead of that country’s next election.

Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico also survived multiple gunshots last year by a crazed gunman who disagreed with him politically, while Orbán faced a foiled attempt on his life. Meanwhile, U.S. President Trump has faced no less than four assassination attempts.

The common thread among all of these figures was their dedication to social conservative values, the return to sovereignty, and a focus on family.

It is telling that back when Trump was nearly killed at his campaign rally in the summer of 2024 in Pennsylvania, longtime Orbán critic and fierce liberal, Ambassador to Budapest David Pressman, had nothing to say. Even when contacted by Magyar Nemzet, the embassy press office’s response was only: “We refer you to President Joe Biden’s address to the American nation.”
