Russia appears more and more willing to challenge NATO’s air force.

“Today, Polish MiG-29 fighters intercepted another Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Polish Command announced the deployment of “all available forces and resources at its disposal” in connection with Russian attacks on targets in Ukraine. According to a statement, on-duty fighter pairs and an early warning aircraft were scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were brought to the highest level of alert, writes wPolityce.

DORSZ announced the end of air force operations in Polish airspace after 10 a.m.

Kosiniak-Kamysz, who was in Kartuzy, reported the interception of a Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea by Polish MiG-29 fighters.

He stressed that the threat to Poland comes from the east, from the Russian Federation.

“Anyone who uses anti-German and anti-Ukrainian rhetoric today, stirring up such sentiments, is acting against the interests of the Polish state,” said the deputy PM.

Poland’s Operational Command reported just yesterday that the day before, a pair of Polish MiG-29 fighters on duty intercepted a Russian Il-20 aircraft carrying out a reconnaissance mission over the Baltic Sea in international airspace without a filed flight plan and with its transponder switched off.
