Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jarosław Kaczyński appealed for the unity of Polish patriots in the face of what he called threats to the country’s sovereignty and the actions of the current government.

During his speech on the eve of Poland’s National Independence Day, he repeatedly invoked the idea of patriotism and called for the reconstruction of a strong state.

“We need national unity, the unity of Polish patriots. Those who will never cooperate with those who currently govern Poland and who refuse to accept that people dependent on external sources can lead the country,” Kaczyński said, as cited by Do Rzeczy.

Kaczyński stressed that the only path to victory is for the opposition to cooperate against PM Tusk’s ruling coalition.

“This is fundamental today. The forces that share this view must unite—it’s the only path to victory. This system must be overthrown, because today we already hear talk of a new, dictatorial system in the works,” he said.

He also noted foreign influences and threats to Polish independence, mentioning both Germany and Russia.

“External forces, both from the West, specifically Germany—there’s no point in hiding it—and from the East, Russia, are acting against Poland. If we agree to this, we will truly be a German-Russian condominium until the end,” he stated.

The PiS leader added that Poland needs a strong state and a government that acts in the national interest. “We need good government, a good government, not the one we have today, because it’s leading us down this very path.”

Kaczyński also addressed the issue of educating the younger generation and rebuilding the national community, emphasizing his belief in an ultimate rebirth for the country. “I believe that Poles possess the strength, faith, and everything necessary for victory. I believe that this present time is only a serious but brief illness,” he said.

“Poland must be independent, free, and a homeland for Poles. And we must educate young people and children so that they grow up as Poles—so that this disease that has plagued us for decades can finally be cured,” he said.
