A 25-year-old man, described by police as a Black “African type,” is on the run from Swiss police after he allegedly dragged a 5-year-old child inside a playground bathroom in Basel, Switzerland, and sexually assaulted her.
Directly before the sexual assault, which took place at noon, he had beaten her 69-year-old female caregiver, according to the Basel public prosecutor’s office. The 69-year-old woman was injured during the assault.
The initial investigation indicates that the child was dragged into the toilet at Oecolampadmatte, and he performed sexual acts on the toddler inside. The man fled when the door to the bathroom facility was opened on Colmarerstrasse towards Türkheimerstrasse, according to MSN Deutschland.
Police and medical services arrived on the playground and treated the two injured victims. Police launched a manhunt for the suspect but were unable to find him.
The Basel-Stadt public prosecutor’s office has described the man as 25 years old, 1.80 centimeters tall, with short curly hair and a full, round face. He was wearing all black, including his hat, pants, jacket, and shirt.
The public prosecutor indicates it is providing a minimum of information to protect the two victims in the case.

There have been a number of high-profile cases involving foreigners raping a victim inside public toilets in Europe, including a case of a 12-year-old girl being raped inside a toilet in Sweden, and an Algerian migrant raping a disabled man in the toilet of a French shopping mall.
Earlier this year, an Iraqi youth was convicted of raping a 17-year-old Swedish girl in a school toilet.
