Following a series of sexual assaults, groping incidents, and knife attacks in the Havel Thermal Baths in the city of Werder, it has now become clearer who was actuallly behind these after initial reports of “male groups” of suspects.
Like many other such incidents in Germany, in particular at swimming pools, foreign males are once again the suspects again be fingered as the main suspects.
In a segment from Welt news, Andreas Schauer, the managing director of Havel Thermal Baths in Werder, said, regarding the need for new gender quotas and increased security: “Of course, this is extremely regrettable. Of course, it also costs a lot of money, but on the other hand, it is simply necessary. They may also be groups of men from a culture or country where there may not be baths or saunas where people are naked.”

The Havel Thermal Baths in Werder, located close to the city of Potsdam, made national news after putting in place stricter controls and gender-based restrictions after a series of incidents involving groups of men committing sexual harassment, violence, and stabbings. Remix News originally reported that “groups of men” were involved in these various criminal incidents, but their identities and nationalities were not disclosed initially.
“We had big problems, especially with groups of men, some of whom were also drunk,” Schauer told Berliner Zeitung after the attacks.
“Even groping guests and staff and even stabbings in the parking lot,” said the managing director.
As a result of these incidents, external security services were hired at the location. In addition, in order to limit gender imbalances, no gender may outnumber the other gender by more than 20 percent. If this limit is reached, entry may be temporarily restricted even if the thermal bath is not at full capacity.

The fact that once again foreign men are involved raises serious questions within Germany about societal and security adaptations that were never necessary before the advent of mass immigration. Whether it’s mass surveillance, riot police at swimming pools, or concrete barriers at Christmas markets, European society has to introduce an entirely different security environment due to mass immigration.
The incidents at the Havel Thermal Baths have echoes of the various incidents at German and Austrian pools in recent years involving sexual assault, mass brawls, acts of disrespect towards pool staff, and groping attacks, which led to a massive increase in police presence and increased security. However, this time, the attacks are taking place in the mostly indoor and upscale Havel Thermal Baths, according to Berliner Zeitung.
Last year, crime statistics showcased just how prevalent foreigners are in crimes against sexual determination in German swimming pools in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s largest state by population.
The data from 2024 showed that 65 percent of all sexual offenses were committed by foreigners, while German citizens committed 35 percent of such crimes. However, the migration background of those German citizens has not been disclosed.
Crime also soared 65 percent in Lower Saxony’s swimming pools, and foreigners account for a huge share of these crimes, according to German government data released in response to a parliamentary inquiry from the Alternative for Germany (AfD).
The data shows that crime at swimming pools in the German state went from 780 cases in 2023 to 1,286 in 2024.
For sexual crimes, foreigners made up 41.67 percent of perpetrators in 2024, with 13 Syrian suspects and seven Afghan suspects among the foreigners arrested. In total, there were 116 sexual crime cases in 2024 in Lower Saxony swimming pools.
