Germany: While escaping alleged gang rape, a woman left with traumatic brain injury after she falls from balcony

No information regarding the suspected perpetrators has been released, as the investigation is ongoing

A young woman was allegedly raped by several men in a Berlin apartment earlier this week, seriously injuring herself when she fell from a second-floor balcony attempting to escape. 

Witnesses told police that five men helped the woman back into the apartment. After being alerted, the fire department arrived at Senftenberger Street at around 3:15 a.m., writes Bild

The fire brigade ultimately transported the woman to the hospital, but her injuries must have been critical, as an emergency doctor had arrived to treat her on-site.

Sources report that she is receiving treatment in the hospital for a traumatic brain injury.

Police were also on the scene with several officers, but no arrests have been reported. A state criminal investigation is ongoing on suspicion of sexual assault. 

Special investigators were also at the apartment on Wednesday to further investigate, with reports of concerns that criminal evidence had been tampered with or disposed of.

A police spokesman did not provide Bild with any further details on the alleged perpetrators in view of the ongoing investigation.

Last year, 19-year-old Hamsa M., a Lebanese migrant, was convicted in the regional court in Hamburg on Thursday. After luring an 18-year-old to his high-rise building, her forced her to perform sexual acts under physical threat. The girl then fled from him, climbed a balcony in a panic, and fell from the sixth floor the building. She suffering serious injuries that nearly killed her.

On that same exact day, Hamsa M., lured a 14-year-old girl to his building as well, where he threatened her with a gas-powered gun. He took her cell phone and raped her. She managed to escape and tell police what happened.

In March of this year, ten Syrian nationals were convicted in Germany after a revenge-driven apartment raid in Hamburg ended in the death of a 15-year-old Iraqi boy who fell from an eighth-floor balcony while fleeing the attackers.

The Hamburg Regional Court ruled that seven of the defendants were guilty of aggravated robbery and manslaughter, while three others were convicted of aiding and abetting. An eleventh member of the gang fled to Syria. The verdict is not yet legally binding.

The fatal fall unfolded during a coordinated nighttime attack in the Wilstorf district on April 14, 2025. According to the court, eight men forced their way into an eighth-floor apartment, while three accomplices remained outside acting as lookouts.
