A 64-year-old Russian national has been arrested in France for the alleged rape of a 5-year-old girl in a parking lot.
As reported by Le Parisien, the incident occurred in a hotel parking lot in Limay at around 11 p.m. on Sunday. The suspect was spotted by a woman sitting naked in his car with the young girl. He reportedly had an erection.
The victim was left in the parking lot as the suspect fled the scene. She was tended to by the witness, who noticed that the victim was bleeding from her genitals. Her description of how she had been treated intimated she had been raped.
Police sources told CNews that the victim’s mother contacted the authorities later that evening. It is unclear how the suspect managed to be alone with the girl, or where her parents had been at the time of the attack.
French media reported that the victim was able to identify the suspect from a photograph. He is understood to have been born in Russia in 1964 and had been living in Paris.
No further description of the suspect has been provided.
His vehicle was subsequently intercepted on the A13 motorway in the early hours of Monday morning. He was arrested and remains in police custody.
An investigation into the alleged rape of a minor is ongoing.
