The weapon transport contains 85 Abrams tanks, 130-140 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and 18 Paladin howitzers, in addition to supporting vehicles.
The final organization of safe and secure transport was the responsibility of both American and Polish soldiers.
The declared aim for the redeployment of troops given by the Americans, is the shift to allied actions meant to support the security for deterrence – “to be able to answer potential crisis and support the defense of allies and partners in Europe.”
The arrival of American units is part of fulfilling the US’s commitments from the 2016 Warsaw NATO summit and the 2014 Newport NATO summit.
The soldiers of the first American shift came to Poland in January 2017, which happened directly after the decisions declared in 2016 during the Warsaw NATO summit. The first troops to arrive were the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team in 2017.
