A mother of four discovered her 5-year-old daughter sitting on a 62-year-old naked Chechen man’s lap inside a car parked outside their temporary housing facility in the city of Limay, in the Yvelines department, at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday. The child was reportedly subjected to acts of penetration.
Now, police confirm an investigation into “rape of a minor under 15 by an adult with an age difference of at least five years” is now underway. The Versailles public prosecutor’s office has confirmed the man is in custody.
Remix News previously reported on this case three days ago, but reported the man was a 64-year-old Russian suspect. Although he is indeed a Russian national, his age is 62 and it has been clarified that he hails from the country of Chechnya. The mother has also delivered a statement.
The 62-year-old Chechen pensioner, Kureysh, was found with his penis still erect and sexually assaulting the child when the mother began hitting him. Afterward, she took her young daughter to the shower to wash away the traces of the sexual assault committed by the man, who is a former neighbor of hers and well known for his kindness around children.
“He was well-liked because he often spent time with the families and children. He had never shown any strange or inappropriate behavior, nor did he have a criminal record,” said a source who knew him for several years while speaking to Le Parisien.
“When we heard what happened on Sunday, we were horrified,” said the source.
The evening began with the families returning from a barbecue in Mantes-la-Jolie, near Limay. That day, the children had spent their day playing by a lake. Upon their return, Fatoumata, her children, and her sister Fanta, who are all originally from Ivory Coast, went to their rooms to make dinner. While her mother was in the kitchen, the 5-year-old girl, Léa, went downstairs to join the man, who was offering pieces of watermelon. The mother said she was not suspicious because she already knew the man.
The mother of four said both her and the child now suffer psychological damage from the incident.
“Since it happened, my daughter doesn’t smile anymore; she isn’t happy. She used to laugh all the time; she’s lost her zest for life. I’m not doing well either. My birthday is this Thursday, but I won’t be celebrating it. All this reminds me of the rape I suffered in Libya, when I was trying to reach France,” said the woman.
“It’s very hard to go through all this. And yet, we feel so much safer in France,” she said.
“The police believed us; the officers took us seriously. They hunted down the rapist just as they would have for anyone else,” she added.
