The government will cut money to non-profit organizations

The government intends to save up to three billion koruna on payments to non-profit organizations, that´s 22 percent of current spending. Cuts are to be implemented by all ministries.

It is expected that organizations involved in the integration of foreigners will be affected by these restrictions. The Minister of Finance, Alena Schillerová assures that there will be no cuts for organizations that provides help to people with disabilities, the elderly or the socially weak. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš does not want to reduce subsidies for sport.

According to earlier published data, more than a third of the funds were allocated to social and employment policies and almost 30 percent to sport.

The Ministry of Finance has announced that expenditure to NGOs has risen to CZK 13.6 billion last year. But the latest analysis from 2015, and the The Center for Research of Nonprofit Sector has announced that it will not process the analysis for this year. Therefore it is unclear how the government will monitor and compare the level of spending.
