A Hungarian cameraman is among the nominees for the prestigious television award, the Emmy, presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, with its 2021 nominees announced on July 13th.

This year’s nominees include Hungarian Marcell Rév, nominated for the “Trouble Don’t Last Always” episode of the Euphoria series for HBO in the category of Outstanding Cameraman Work in a single-camera series (one hour).

Euphoria received three Emmy nominations in 2021: Best Contemporary Costume, in addition to Cinematography and Best Contemporary Makeup, the latter two for the episode “F ** k Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob”.

Other nominees for the category include episodes from Bridgerton, Lovecraft Country, Perry Mason, Crown, the Mandalorian and Umbrella Academy.

Euphoria has so far boasted nine nominations and three Emmy Awards: in 2020, it received categories for Best Contemporary Makeup, Best Original Music and Lyrics, and Best Female Lead in a Drama Series.

Rév could be joining other famous Hungarian cameramen such as Vilmos Zsigmond (The Sugarland Express, Deer Hunter) and László Kovács (Easy Rider, Ghost Busters). Last year, Rév was invited to vote on the Oscars.

The 73rd Emmy Awards will be held on September 19th.
