Poland has discovered its first completely new deposits of copper and silver in over 40 years, raising hopes the country can make use of the deposits to fuel its fast growing economy.
According to economic portal WNP.pl, the Zielona Góra Copper company has geological documentation concerning the new deposits of copper and silver.
The confirmed deposits are estimated to hold 848 million tons of copper and silver ore, 11 million tons of copper and 36,000 tons of silver, marking a major new discovery.
The program for searching for copper and silver deposits in the region has been conducted for the last nine years. Up until today, the Zielona Góra Copper company invested €84.4 million in the project.
