A father in Norway has been sentenced to prison, along with his friend, for beating up a 16-year-old who was allegedly keeping his daughter out late with a group of friends in the city center of Porsgrunn.

The father had reportedly spent many nights looking for his daughter on the streets, with reportedly several confrontations between the man and the teen, who on one occasion, even threatened the father with a knife. The teen was reportedly connected to a criminal gang.

Now, both men will have to spend time in prison and pay fines to the teen.

According to the verdict, the teen was hospitalized for three days after the attack, having suffered a skull fracture, brain hemorrhage and concussion, as well as wounds and swelling on his face and body.

Both defendants pleaded guilty when they appeared in court, according to NRK.

On a Sunday evening, after the teen had pulled a knife on the father, the girl’s mother reportedly called him for help in bringing her daughter home. She was with the teen and his group of friends at the train station in Porsgrunn.

Given his previous encounter with the teen, in which he had threatened him with a knife, the father decided to bring along some friends to help.

The encounter with the group of teens was then captured, among other things, by surveillance cameras at the scene. According to the verdict, the father allegedly attacked the boy, but his friend was the one who kicked the boy in the head, which he has admitted to.

The Lower Telemark District Court sentenced the father to five months in prison and a fine of 45,000 kroner (€4,175) to the victim. The father’s defense attorney says his client has no intention of appealing the verdict and hopes the case will be resolved.

The father’s friend was sentenced to a year in prison and must pay the teen 150,000 kroner in restitution and 10,000 kroner in compensation. His lawyer says they are considering appealing the sentence, but they are not surprised at the conviction since his client admitted to his actions.

The victim’s attorney told NRK that they do not wish to comment on the matter at this time. “I have read the verdict, but have not had the opportunity to discuss its contents with my client,” she said.
