Information has swept the internet about a mysterious social aide to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The parliament’s website lists her name as Kristina Voronovska. Many are surprised by her unusual combination of professions. In addition to being Tusk’s social collaborator, Voronovska is also a cosmetologist with a self-professed “love for skin anatomy.”

Hailing from Ukraine, Voronovska combines her political duties with her work at a Warsaw beauty salon. Whether these skills translate into her role as a social aide remains a topic of interest.

Voronovska has been serving as Tusk’s social aide since May 7, 2024. Beyond her political responsibilities, she actively works as a cosmetologist and manages her own Instagram account. Following a spike in public interest, she changed her account settings from public to private. Additionally, she is interested in advertising collaborations.

It’s important to note that Voronovska is not an aide to Donald Tusk as prime minister, but rather as a member of parliament. She also works at the national office of the ruling Civic Platform (PO) party. Furthermore, some commentators suggest a possible connection between Voronovska and a recent decision to lower the VAT rate for the beauty industry.

“Now, it’s getting interesting. Donald Tusk’s assistant belongs to an organization fighting for lower VAT for the beauty industry,” Conservative Law and Justice (PiS) MP Radosław Fogiel wrote on X.

“And it just so happens that this is one of the few promises that have been fulfilled. Instead of being listed as a staff member, shouldn’t she be registered as a lobbyist?” he added.

The internet has erupted into a storm after revelations of Voronovska’s dual roles emerged. Among the most frequently asked questions are those about Voronovska’s origins, her family connections, and potential influence on political decisions.

Reports suggest that Kristina Voronovska was previously known as Kristina Potopalska. She was born in 1989, in Międzyrzecz, Poland, near a Russian military base active at that time. Journalists are trying to determine her parents’ activities during that period and whether it has any relevance to her current position. Social media traces reveal also that Voronovska frequently visited Sopot, where Tusk’s home is located, before the elections.

Answering the internet buzz, Jan Grabiec, head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, addressed inquiries about Voronovska on Thursday evening, stating she joined their team in 2022 for a secretarial role to expand the office before election campaigns. Voronovska, who studied economics and worked in banking in Ukraine, has lived in Poland since 2018. Initially unable to find banking work, she took a job at a beauty salon but continued to seek better opportunities, leading to her recruitment by Monika Krzepkowska, who saw her potential and her proficiency in Polish due to her Polish descent.

Grabiec also highlighted Voronovska’s impressive performance, leading to her recommendation for managing the parliamentary office for MP Tusk earlier this year.

Born in Poland while her father was a Red Army soldier, Voronovska was raised in Ukraine. Her father later joined the Ukrainian army and is now retired. Voronovska has been vetted by Polish services, with no objections to her integrity. She does not access confidential documents and works on relations within the parliamentary office, informed Grabiec.
