Polish PM: Rebuild Ukraine with confiscated Russian assets

Ukraine should be rebuilt with seized Russian assets, and Poland is the only country supporting this necessary policy, said Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Wednesday while speaking at the international conference on business cooperation for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Morawiecki added that Ukraine could be reconstructed with the help of Polish companies.

The Polish prime minister said that a new security architecture must be built to defeat Russia and that there must be “no hiding of heads in the sand over the threat posed by Russian capital.” He indicated that he was convinced Russia could be beaten thanks to the broad coalition against it.

This is why, he argued, Poland was in favor not only of freezing Russian assets but their confiscation so that they can be used to reconstruct Ukraine, a process in which he foresaw significant participation by Polish companies.

He added that Polish participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine is a priority for his government.

Morawiecki revealed that a few weeks ago he discussed this issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He said that it is in order to attract Polish companies that Ukraine is introducing special measures to reciprocate the measures taken by Poland in favor of Ukraine and its citizens.
