In Zamość in Eastern Poland, a mobile vaccination point and the local sanitary HQ were set on fire on Sunday night. The police has increased surveillance over vaccination points throughout the region. Increasing monitoring and police control in vaccination points in the Lubelskie Voivodship has also been announced. Simultaneously, the police are currently searching for the culprit, who has been filmed by CCTV camera.
Chief inspector Dorota Krukowska-Bubiło of the Zamość city police explained that the town’s mobile vaccination point was under constant police surveillance. “The precinct is permanent – there is a police car and there are police officers constantly engaged in securing the area,” she said.
The attack in Zamość was not the first of its kind. On Saturday in the Baltic port of Gdynia, an incident near a vaccination bus took place.
“Just before noon, a group of around 15 people verbally declared opposition to vaccines. This was an illegal gathering, its participants were ID’d, and appropriate notices were filed to the court. The participants face fines of up to EUR 1100,” Gdynia city police inspector Jolanta Grunert explained.
A week ago, another incident took place during which a group of anti-vaccination supporters tried to storm a vaccination point in Grodzisk Mazowiecki in the center of Poland. Some of the assailants were detained.
“All incidents associated with attacks and any attempts of aggression and blocking of vaccination points will be met with a harsh response from the police,” warned Minister of the Interior Mariusz Kamiński. He added that the ministry has reached an agreement with the police commander in chief to contact the state prosecutor’s office to make sure that punishment for these attacks would be as harsh as possible.
