The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that Finland is willing to join in constructing the Rail Baltica. This railway would connect Warsaw with Tallinn and then, via an underwater tunnel, with Helsinki.
“Rail Baltica is an important new trade route into Central European markets for Finland. This is why we have decided to join the enterprise joint venture RB rail, which coordinates Rail Baltica, as to hasten the completion of the project,” said the Finnish Minister of Transport Anne Berner.

According to the previous Rail Baltica schedule, the railway would be around 1,000km long and would be completed in 2026.
The trains would travel at a speed of 160 km/h. The whole venture, financed mostly from European Union funds, has been estimated to be EUR 6 billion. The project has been made a part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
