With Donald Trump declaring victory in America, Poles are already reacting, along with the rest of the world. Poland was always known for its friendly relationship with Trump during his administration while the country was under conservative rule. However, with a left-liberal government under Donald Tusk currently ruling, the situation may become more hostile, especially as Poland moves to retaliate against conservatives there, including taking over press outlets and violating rule-of-law principles.

Polish Law and Justice (PiS) MEP Dominik Tarczyński was on hand at victory celebrations for Trump, posting a cheering crowd on X with the simple message: “#Trump2024.”

The victory for Trump has been so complete that there is, at least so far, not a single American county where she outperformed Joe Biden.

Some Poles are taking Trump’s victory as a sign of providence.

“The assassination attempt on @realDonaldTrump was to interrupt His mission. Providence did not allow it. He is needed by America and the world torn by conflicts and human suffering. He proved that having strong views on the economy, in defense of life, in defense of children from a destructive ideology, in the matter of migration and security – you can WIN. CONGRATULATIONS,” wrote Polish MEP Beata Kempa.

“Glory to the Lord in the highest! P.S. But we have to keep praying because the Obamas are planning something,” wrote Wojciech Cejrowski on Facebook.

Other Polish politicians are now holding up Trump as a playbook on how to win future elections for the right.

“Donald Trump did not waste time looking for a ‘center,’ he did not fawn on the openly hostile liberal-left media. He did his thing, stuck to his agenda – and won. He is an example for every right-wing politician of how to act. Courage and work bring victory,” wrote Besta Szydło.

A Polish pollster noted that abortion was not the election driver the Democrats thought it would be.

“It turns out that America is not Jagodno (left-liberal neighborhood in Warsaw), and the Democrats have already cashed in the election bonus from dissatisfaction with the abortion ban in the midterms in 2022,” said Kamil Marcinkiewicz, an expert in polling.

Others had a more simple message, including MP Marek Jakubiak, who simply wrote: “What a beautiful morning, isn’t it?”

Others were not nearly as happy.

“It looks like Putin won,” said Wojciech Sadurski, a left-liberal lawyer.

Notably, at the time of publication, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has not commented on the elections despite other European leaders already making this move.
