A 21-year-old African migrant, hailing from the country of the Gambia, has been arrested for raping a 31-year-old woman who was out jogging in the city of Lille, only to be caught during a rape attempt days later.
The woman was targeted on Nov. 23 around noon at the Jardin des Plantes in northern Lille. He approached her under some pretext and tried to talk with her. When she continued her jog, he suddenly reappeared when she was in a more isolated area of the garden.
He tackled her to the ground, pinned her, and began raping her. The woman began screaming, but nobody was nearby. After the rape, he ran away, while the woman, who was in shock, returned to her home. Her boyfriend then called the police, according to French news outlet Actu17.
Police officers launched an investigation and technicians took DNA samples from the victim to test it against their database, the National Automated Fingerprint File genetics (FNAEG). However, there was no match.
This is the moment Jordanian rapist Faid A. snuck into the ER room of his 34-year-old French victim and brutally raped her in Cochin Hospital in Paris.
"Now, I am afraid when I sleep. I am afraid of what will happen to me when I wake up," the victim testified in court.

A break in the case came just days later, on Dec. 1, when in the Lille-sud district, near rue de Courtois, another victim was targeted as she left the subway. The young woman was approached in a quiet area by the Gambian man, who allegedly tried to grab her and drag her away. The woman fought the man and managed to break away.
A police unit from the anti-crime unit (BAC) immediately arrived on scene and aided the woman. Police units launched a manhunt for the suspect, and after a few minutes, a young man was spotted matching the description provided by the woman. Police officers arrested the suspect.
DNA testing has confirmed he was the individual who raped the first woman just a week before, according to prosecutors. He has been indicted for rape and placed in pre-trial detention.
