U.S. President Joe Biden will visit Poland on Feb. 20-22, according to a White House announcement. The president will meet with Poland’s President Andrzej Duda and the leaders of the Bucharest Nine; he will also deliver a major speech.
U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski stressed on Sunday that Biden visited Poland in March 2021, which “clearly signals how important Polish-U.S. relations are.”
“No U.S. president has ever visited Poland twice in one year,” pointed out Brzezinski, during an interview for Polsat News TV.
He said that the president was impressed by the Polish reception of Ukrainian refugees.
“The whole world is watching Poland,” the ambassador underlined.
Brzezinski noted that Biden will arrive in Poland on the afternoon of Feb. 20 and plans on visiting no other country. According to him, this shows how important Polish-U.S. relations are during the Ukraine war.
The U.S. president will meet with Polish leader Andrzej Duda to discuss bilateral relations, efforts to aid Ukraine, and strengthening NATO.
Biden will deliver a speech to mark the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It will “summarize U.S. efforts to ensure steady support for Ukraine in Europe and the entire world as Ukraine defends freedom and democracy,” said Brzezinski.
The ambassador indicated that Biden will meet with the Bucharest Nine leaders to “confirm the unwavering U.S. support for NATO’s security.”
The Bucharest Nine is a regional cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which includes Poland, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, and Slovakia.
