In the CEE region, a total of 534 transactions worth US$13.4 billion were realized in the first half of 2018. The biggest transaction was the acquisition of the Central European and Eastern European telecommunication companies of Telenor by the PPF Group worth US$3.4 billion.
The number of transactions in the Czech Republic increased from 113 to 167 year-on-year, as did their size. The average transaction also increased in Hungary, Estonia and Slovenia. Hungary has thus achieved second position in the region before Romania which placed third.
The Czech transactions were mostly made up of investments by domestic investors within the Czech Republic followed by foreign investments into the Czech Republic. Mainly investors from Austria and the UK, but also investors from France, Germany and the USA were interested in Czech companies. The greatest interest was in real estate but also the technology sector is on the rise.
