“The Church gave birth to and defended Polish nationality,” said the PM in Poznań. He referred to the support of the Catholic Church during the years of Polish partitions. “The Church was a place where Poland existed when searching for her on a map was in vain,” he said.

Morawiecki explained that the solidarity which connects Europe and Poland comes from the Church: “Poland, through the Church gives Europe the great gift of solidarity,” he added.

He strongly criticized communism and Marxist ideology, which although “promised an equal world” showed instead a “criminal world, in which there was no solidarity and only the destruction of society through a regime apparatus.”

Europe came to Poland through baptism. Poland has always been a part of Europe and will remain so. Polishness, Europeaness and Christianity are connected by the spirit of solidarity and remain our inalienable heritage

The PM also underlined the important connection between Europe, Poland and the Church. “Europe came to Poland through baptism. Poland has always been a part of Europe and will remain so. Polishness, Europeaness and Christianity are connected by the spirit of solidarity and remain our inalienable heritage,” he said.

The CCEE associates the episcopates of all 45 countries in Europe. President Andrzej Duda and PM Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as other government representatives took part in the meeting alongside members of other beliefs. This year’s slogan was “the European Spirit of Solidarity.”
