The launch of Polish public television TVP’s new English-language news channel is being touted as a success. Between Nov. 18 and Nov. 21, TVP World broadcasts have been viewed 200,000 times and the news portal TVPworld.com has been visited more than 320,000 times.

On the day of its debut on Nov. 18, TVP World recorded almost 8,500 active streams during its peak and its YouTube channel already has 22,400 subscriptions.

The English-language news network is accessible over the internet to viewers throughout the world.

TVP’s authorities decided to create the channel due to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border, and the need to produce honest and fair reporting, especially regarding issues that feature false reporting along with propaganda disinformation from Russia and Belarus.

“Polish public television feels responsible for defending the Polish raison d’état, which is why we hastened TVP World’s debut,” TVP head Jacek Kurski said. The channel was set to initially launch in January 2022.

TVP World broadcasts 24 hours a day. In addition to reports from the border, the channel feature commentary and interviews with experts. The channel is accessible to viewers via the TVPworld.com website and the TVP World YouTube channel.

TVP World is also broadcasted by TVP Info (Polish public television’s main information channel) between 1am to 4am.
