Among his many other meetings at this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici also met George Soros, the founder of the Open Society Foundation.
This was Soros’ 21st meeting with the leaders of the European Union.
Hungarian MEP Tamás Deutsch (Fidesz) addressed a series of written questions to the European Commission regarding a Soros’ meetings with leaders of the European Union:
1. Who initiated these meetings and with what goal?
2. What topics were discussed?
3. Is it appropriate that a private citizen and businessman without any democratically elected political mandate should coordinate with such frequency with the leaders of the European Union?
According to data from LobbyFact, between 2014 and 2018 lobbyists of Soros’ Open Society European Policy Institute met leading representatives of the European Union on 49 occasions.
