Poland’s Karolina Bielawska was crowned Miss World 2021 on Wednesday at the contest’s finale in the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan.

In addition to stunning the world with her beauty, Bielawska showed herself during the contest to be an intelligent person full of different passions.

The 70th edition of the world’s most prestigious beauty contest had been delayed by three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Polish model, who is also studying for a master’s degree, did not hide her emotions when her win was announced.

“When I heard my name, I was shocked. I cannot believe it,” Bielawska told reporters. “I have the honor of wearing the crown of Miss World and I cannot wait until I get to start working. I will remember this incredible contest in Puerto Rico for all my life,” she added.

“I would like to thank you all for your huge support during this amazing journey! I am incredibly thankful for all the good wishes, love and support that I received. I will do everything in my power to represent Poland as proudly as I can,” Bielawska declared.

The glamorous ceremony featured several messages of support for Ukraine amid the ongoing invasion of the country by Russia, including an on-stage candle tribute at the televised event with a backdrop of the words: “A prayer for peace.”

23-year-old Bielawska comes from the city of Łódź in central Poland. In the future, she hopes to become a TV presenter and motivational speaker. Her greatest passion is traveling and she is also a hard-working volunteer who helps the homeless.

Bielawska is the second Polish woman in history to win the title, after Aneta Kręglicka in 1989.
