Russians understand Poles very well, as, unfortunately, they ruled over the Polish nation for a very long time. They also understand the Polish soul. They know that it is naturally good, Christian and empathetic. Now, they are trying to manipulate us, to use our naturally good instincts to achieve their cynical goals.
The leader of Law and Justice (PiS), Jarosław Kaczyński, spoke about this in Kraków on Thursday:
“One must understand, that the ‘battle’ taking place today is a battle over consciousness above all else. This is a battle over how Poles will think and what conclusions they will draw from their thoughts. This is about breaking our resistance by reaching out to our nobler instincts. This cannot be allowed to happen,” he said.
“This is an attempt to use the beautiful emotion that is empathy to break our resistance. Poles are a good nation, but their goodness cannot become a weakness,” Kaczyński declared.
The situation is very serious. Escalation on a previously unimaginable scale is possible, as is a long-term conflict meant to tire out our society. To put it plainly: War is possible. Russia may openly attack Ukraine. In truth, this may be the most serious threat we have faced since 1980 when Poland was at risk of Soviet intervention.
Like every year, the March of Independence took place on the streets of Warsaw. This year, it was especially peaceful, worthy and even serious. Out of the many messages, one seemed to stand out. Every patriot who came to join the march from all over Poland asked for one thing: serious treatment in the face of today’s threats.
The participants asked, even appealed, for Poles and Polish independence to be treated seriously. They asked the majority of the opposition, opposition-friendly media and the majority of the cultural establishment to abandon totalism, stupidity and infantile behavior.
Poland lies in too precarious of a position, and her independence has cost too much to allow chutzpah to be the dominant feature of public life.
It is time to grow up for Poland.
According to the leader of the March of Independence Association, Robert Bąkiewicz, some 150,000 people took part in this year’s annual patriotic march in Warsaw on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of Poland regaining her independence. The event was peaceful, with no major incidents.
“150,000 Poles at the March of Independence. We walked safely and peacefully under the Polish flag. This is how you celebrate independence. Thank you!” Bąkiewicz wrote on Twitter.
