Over 70 percent of Poles believe that the next year will be worse for household budgets than the current year, a survey by Institute of Economic and Social Research for commercial Radio Zet shows.
Only 9.7 percent of respondents said the next year will be better when asked about their opinion on the effect the year 2023 will have on their household budgets.
Some 17.8 percent answered that it will not change, while 70.5 percent of respondents said the next year will be worse for their household budgets, and just 2 percent of polled people answered they were not certain.
A total of 82 percent of respondents who are pessimistic about their household budgets in 2023 live in large cities with over 250,000 inhabitants.
Not a single respondent living in rural areas said that the next year will have a positive effect on their finances, while 72 percent of people from this group predict their financial situation will get worse in 2023.
Poland, like many Central and Eastern European nations, is dealing with an ongoing inflation crisis that has eaten into household savings and put a major strain on the country’s economy.
