According to Interior Minister Jan Hamáček, the Czech Republic must be ready even though migration has recently fallen and numbers are much lower than before.
We have all seen that the Czech Police is ready to face any migratory wave, the minister said praising police exercises.
The Minister of the Interior has the authority to immediately introduce border controls for five days, the government can do so for 30 days, with the option of extending to half a year.
“Words are not enough. Therefore, we do specific actions,“ Hamáček said on his Twitter.
The police checked three border crossings, guarded the so-called green border, and practiced a search for a group of migrants. Officers tested for example a heartbeat detector, which can detect people hiding in a truck. They also used the special technique for recognizing counterfeit documents.
