A Muslim man and his partner have been jailed in France after violently attacking a father and daughter at a train station in Meulan-en-Yvelines, hurling insults at them, beating them, and threatening to kill them because of how they were dressed.

The 25-year-old attacker, Mohamed, was sentenced to eight years in prison, while his 24-year-old partner Cassandra was given five years.

The incident occurred on July 27, 2025, at Thun-le-Paradis station as Laurent, 58, waited with his 28-year-old daughter Eve for a train to a K-Pop concert. According to 78Actu, the perpetrators clocked the couple and berated the daughter for wearing a short skirt. They shouted “Dirty whore” from across the tracks before crossing the platform and launching the violent assault.

Witnesses said Mohamed beat the father and daughter for nearly five minutes, using his fists and even an aerosol can as a weapon, while Cassandra joined the attack against Eve. The court heard that Mohamed then forced the pair to withdraw €140, threatening Eve, “If I don’t kill you, I’ll kill your father.”

The following day, Mohamed is reported to have tracked Laurent in the street.

Both suspects were arrested soon after and brought before the Versailles court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 1. Prosecutors denounced what they called “extremely brutal and gratuitous violence.”

CNews reported how, at trial this week, Mohamed and Cassandra claimed that they had been provoked with racist insults, including “bicot” (a slur against people of North African origin) and “pou voilée” (“veiled louse”), a version of events firmly rejected by the victims and the Court.

Cassandra also denied attacking Eve, saying she had tried to take her to the hospital, a claim the judges dismissed.

In victim impact statements, Eve revealed how she had experienced extreme weight loss following the ordeal, and noted that she struggles with anxiety. Her father admitted that he now rarely leaves the house after the attack.
