A harrowing trial in the Italian city of Treviso is unfolding. The case involves a 41-year-old Moroccan national who is accused of brutally assaulting and raping a 49-year-old disabled woman in January 2025.

During the hearing on Jan. 22, 2026, the victim provided shocking testimony detailing a night of torture and sexual violence that left her unconscious and severely injured.

The victim confirmed the extent of the torture, saying in court: “I was beaten, tortured with a box cutter, and then he also raped me with a bottle.”

The relationship between the victim and the accused man, who has a history of drug and alcohol addiction, began years ago. Despite the man having a prior conviction for mistreating both the woman and their young son, the victim allowed him to return to her home after his release, according to Italian news outlet Treviso Today.

She reportedly hoped he would help her manage her disability, believing his promise: “I’ve changed, you’ll see that things will work between us now.”

However, the situation deteriorated rapidly by September 2024. The defendant allegedly became increasingly aggressive, punching the woman in the head and threatening her with a kitchen knife while declaring, “We’re both going to die here tonight.”

The violence reached its peak on January 5, 2025. Driven by alcohol and cocaine, the man is accused of brutally beating his partner before dragging her into the bathroom. The court heard testimony that he “slammed her against the bidet until she lost consciousness.”

After that, police found the woman had been sliced open with a box cutter, and investigators found the bottle that prosecutors say the man raped her with.

When emergency services arrived the following morning after the woman managed to call 118 saying, “Come, he massacred me,” they discovered a scene of “authentic horror.”

Blood was found throughout the apartment—on the floors, furniture, and the terrace. The defendant was found lying on a bed surrounded by drug paraphernalia, including tinfoil and a crack pipe.

The defendant, currently held in Santa Bona prison, continues to deny the charges. He claimed that a significant wound on the victim’s neck was simply an accident she suffered while walking to the bathroom.

However, biological evidence appears to contradict his story. While some DNA evidence from a vaginal swab was excluded from the trial file due to procedural issues, other “biological evidence frames him.” Investigators found the defendant’s blood on the handle of the box cutter used in the attack, while the victim’s blood was found on the blade.

Facing charges of mistreatment, aggravated personal injury, and sexual violence, the 41-year-old remains in custody. The victim, fearful of her alleged attacker, was permitted to testify behind a protective screen.

A verdict will be reached and a sentence issued on Feb. 19.
