According to reports from the Ukrainian intelligence services, the Russian propaganda machine has gone into overdrive in the occupied city of Melitopol and is aimed at making Ukrainians lose hope of their territory being liberated by Ukrainian forces.
Meetings have been organized by occupiers in places of work at which people are told that Ukraine has now been partitioned.
People in Melitopol have also been told that in the western parts of Ukraine, the Polish zloty is now legal tender. Their bosses are telling them that “Ukraine is no longer what it was” and that they have nowhere to run to from the territories occupied by Russia, according to a post on Telegram by Ukrainian intelligence services.
Poland is effectively being accused of having taken part in the partitioning of Ukraine.
These actions by the Russians are aimed at undermining the moral and psychological stability of the population that wants to hold on to their Ukrainian identity. However, Ukrainians are countering this by stating that “all the inhabitants of Ukraine should remember that all its territories will be liberated, Ukraine will remain as a unitary state and all occupants and their collaborators will be punished.”
