“We learned from the mistakes made in 2015,” said Austrian Minister of Defense Klaudia Tanner.
As a key challenge for the European Union, the Czech PM identified migration, border protection and, above all, the promotion of the free market and the inclusion of all member states in the Schengen Area.
Speaking at the Committee on European Affairs meeting, the Czech PM said there is no reason to increase Frontex´s staff from 1,500 to 10,000 as planned. Member States should ensure the protection of the external borders themselves.
The EU has to clearly identify what the extra manpower of the Frontex agency will be for, said Andrej Babiš prior to an informal EU summit in Salzburg.
During an official visit to Italy and Malta, PM Andrej Babiš will offer unmanned aircraft to help the two countries guard their borders and combat illegal migration.
