The Slovak parliament rejected the UN global migration pact and asked the coalition government of Peter Pellegrini to leave the process of its acceptance. Right after that, Miroslav Lajčák resigned as Slovak foreign minister.
The term migration is as old as humanity itself and every continent except Africa had to be populated by migration, Neanderthals and later on Cro-Magnons came to Europe from Africa. So why is the UN pact unacceptable for many, including the Czech Republic? Because we no longer live in pre-history.
The Germans are already aware of their problem: they give too much free of charge, which attracts the masses from developing countries. But instead of limiting their generosity, they encourage other states to adopt their standards so that they are not alone.
The Czech Republic will probably not join the Global Compact for Migration. The government will debate the document next week, however, according to Foreign Minister Petříček, it is already clear that the cabinet will not support the accession to the pact. The treaty was also criticized by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš due to its possible disruption of national sovereignty.
