The Polish Prime Minister argued in an interview with Telewizja Republika, that the selling off of Polish media is “a result of a childish disease of Poland’s Third Republic. During that time, people were told that capital has no nationality and it doesn’t matter who the owner is.”
“The media has been sold off. We’ve lost a lot due to that. Today, the media are in foreign, mostly German hands. These German media activated themselves during the municipal elections,” claimed the Polish prime minister.

Morawiecki mentioned the case when Germany’s largest newspaper, the Berliner Tageblatt was to be sold to the Americans, “It sparked a massive protest.” The PM explained that “Germans themselves say that their papers have to be in their hands.”
During Civic Platform rule and earlier, Germany bought out all of the main Polish media, including more than 90 percent of local newspapers. “Let’s not be blinded,” urged Morawiecki.
“A Great victory” in the local elections
Morawiecki also said that PiS had won the municipal elections. “This is a great victory,” said Morawiecki. His party gained two million more votes than in the previous elections four years ago. PiS also had one million more votes in municipal elections than any party before it.
“Our program was strongly local. We got to the citizens with our message about the Clean Air project, high speed internet, house insulation, civic budget and infrastructure developments,” said Morawiecki.
